The 2025 Spring Intern position in Product Technical Development at Genentech focuses on Engineering and Manufacturing. This internship is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or recent graduates, providing an opportunity to engage in impactful projects within the Pharmaceutical Technical Development Unit (PTDU). The PTDU is renowned for its expertise in developing large-scale manufacturing processes, sophisticated analytical methods, and effective drug delivery systems. Interns will work on-site in South San Francisco for a duration of six months, committing to 40 hours per week. The program is set to commence in January or February 2025, and interns will receive a stipend to help cover costs associated with the internship. Interns will have the chance to take ownership of challenging projects that are critical to the business, collaborating with some of the most talented professionals in the biotechnology industry. The role may involve assignments in various areas such as Drug Delivery Technology Development, Device Development, Pilot Plant and Clinical Manufacturing Operations, and Process Development. Interns will work closely with plant engineers, project managers, and process specialists, contributing to clinical large-scale cell culture and purification production, as well as the development of drug delivery devices and packaging. Previous internship projects have included design verification testing for Port Delivery systems, development of sterile barrier systems, infrastructure upgrades to meet regulatory requirements, and assisting with clean utility and production equipment upgrades. Interns will also help implement and maintain Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Compliance Programs, ensuring that all processes meet the necessary standards for quality and safety.
