Solar Turbines' engineering intern positions are created to provide students with challenging projects that play a key role in supporting gas turbine package and system design, as well as associated development activities. Under the guidance of mentors, students are given a meaningful work experience while gaining exposure to the entire corporate environment. This includes training courses, networking events, and facility tours, along with a challenging project assignment to complete that enables them the opportunity to apply classroom education to real work situations. The specific project for this internship will be focused on enhancing the quality of the gas turbine package control software by developing an application to automate validation testing. This Internship is an eleven-week program. Interns will get the opportunity to join a Solar Turbines Employee Resource Groups, receive mentorship, engage in special events and luncheons with peers, hear from keynote speakers and much more.

  • Support gas turbine package and system design.
  • Participate in associated development activities.
  • Develop an application to automate validation testing for gas turbine package control software.
  • Engage in training courses, networking events, and facility tours.
  • Complete a challenging project assignment.
  • Currently in the process of obtaining a 4-year or advanced-degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • C# programming experience with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Must be classified by school in Fall 2025 as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student.
  • Overall GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as individually.
  • Previous internship experience.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • High energy level and sense of urgency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good business / technical judgment.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities for a variety of tasks.
  • Hourly compensation ranging from $22.30- $39.00/hr.
