About The Position

The 2025 Manufacturing Apprentice position at Bath Iron Works Corp General Dynamics offers a unique educational and career opportunity for motivated individuals. This apprenticeship program allows participants to earn while they learn, providing comprehensive training in various manufacturing trades over approximately four years, totaling 8,000 hours. Apprentices will engage in rigorous college coursework while gaining hands-on experience in shipbuilding.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
• High school education or equivalent (GED) required at the time of hire.
• Competence with common PC-based software (Microsoft Office, internet browser, etc.).
• Ability to meet the Physical Task Analysis requirements, including climbing, working at heights, and in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

• Trade/Vocational School graduate preferred.
• Experience using basic hand tools and working in a construction or industrial manufacturing environment.
• Background in construction, automotive, spray painting, grinding, pipe fitting, electrical work, insulating, tin work, or steel fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and technical documents preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete 8,000 hours of apprenticeship training in a specific manufacturing trade.
• Participate in rigorous college coursework related to the trade.
• Demonstrate competence with common PC-based software for course assignments.
• Follow safety protocols and meet the requirements of the Physical Task Analysis.
