The RTX Software Engineering organization is seeking enthusiastic and highly capable software engineering interns in programs developing real time embedded software. As a Software Engineering intern, you will work as a member of the Software Engineering team, collaborating with software staff, technical leads and program leadership in support of radar systems or self-protection software development. This position is an onsite role in Goleta, CA.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a BS (or higher) degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate standing level by the start of Summer 2025.
  • Coursework or equivalent in programming with C and/or C++.
  • Software Engineering course work in algorithm development and data analysis.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous software related co-op or internship experience.
  • Coursework or equivalent in Real-Time Embedded programming, Software Engineering, Software life cycle, Agile/Lean development techniques, Software Integration, Assembly language, Signal Processing, Advanced Algorithm Development, Calculus for Engineers and Scientists.
  • Experience with firmware and hardware devices.
  • Experience with general purpose computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Visual Studio or other IDE.

Responsibilities

  • Support the software team with the requirements, design, coding, build process, data analysis, and tools maintenance in their specific program area on a variety of software development environments and platforms.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Firmware and Electrical engineers to work on real-time embedded software, tactical airborne systems software such as used in Airborne Radar Systems, Radar Warning Receivers, and integrated Electronic System Control Suites.
