Gerdau is seeking college students to participate in our G.Start program, a paid internship initiative designed to develop students for future technical and managerial positions. The G.Start internships are project-focused and mutually beneficial, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion within our business and society. This program is tailored for individuals who are eager to grow both personally and professionally, as they become part of a global company with over 120 years of entrepreneurship and achievements in the steel industry. Candidates should possess high learning agility and a willingness to adapt and develop continuously, aiming to consistently outperform in various settings and circumstances. Gerdau is a major steel manufacturing company operating in 10 countries and employing over 30,000 individuals. Our North American business divisions, Gerdau Long Steel North America and Gerdau Specialty Steel North America, produce long and special steel products for the agriculture, energy, industrial, automotive, and manufacturing markets. We contribute to the economy through our network of recycling operations and mills, operating ten mills in the U.S. and three in Canada. Our mills utilize efficient and clean production practices, including electric arc furnace (EAF) technology, making our steel one of the greenest choices available. Interns will have opportunities to learn various tools and software, including the Microsoft suite, CAPEX, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, among others. The ideal candidate for this internship must demonstrate a strong eagerness to grow, possess leadership potential, and have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. This program is designed for undergraduate students entering their Junior or Senior year, pursuing degrees in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, Metallurgy Engineering, or related fields from recognized accredited colleges or universities. A record of high academic achievement is essential, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 preferred, and a GPA of 3.0 or higher being ideal. Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular activities are encouraged to apply. Additionally, candidates must be legally authorized to work full-time in the country of hire without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment.
