About The Position

The 2025 Curatorial Intern - Summer position at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art offers a paid internship opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a major American art museum. Interns will work closely with a member of the curatorial team, assisting with exhibition projects, developing interpretation, writing labels for collection objects, and conducting research on objects in the collection. The focus will be on art made before 1960 and the Alfred Stieglitz Collection, which is jointly owned by Fisk University and Crystal Bridges. This internship is part of a robust summer program that spans various departments, allowing interns to gain knowledge and skills in professional ways. The internship runs for 8 weeks, from June 2, 2025, to July 25, 2025, requiring 35 hours of work per week.

Requirements

  • Enrolled sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates (within six months)
  • Interest in and/or experience with American art history, architecture, visual and material culture, and/or American studies

Responsibilities

  • Assist curatorial department with research, writing labels, and gallery installation
  • Focus on Alfred Stieglitz Collection and its reinstallation at Crystal Bridges in 2026
  • Attend group sessions with other interns held in departments across the museum
  • Shadow colleagues across the museum as assigned/according to individual student interests
  • Maintain a schedule of 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday (including one hour break for lunch) with adjustments as needed and agreed upon in advance
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
