Braun Intertec is seeking students pursuing degrees in engineering, construction management, or related fields for a 6-month Co-op opportunity in our Fargo, ND office. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the civil engineering and construction materials testing industry. As a Co-op, you will receive in-depth technical training and industry certifications upon successful completion of examinations and demonstration of your abilities. This role involves performing a variety of testing on construction materials, including soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt. You will conduct onsite materials testing on various commercial and transportation construction projects, collaborating closely with project managers and other technicians to ensure that all specifications are adhered to. Candidates should be prepared to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and must be capable of lifting over 75 pounds. The physical demands of this position include reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. You may also be required to work on uneven terrain, at varying heights, in confined spaces, or in supported trenches. This Co-op opportunity not only allows you to gain valuable field experience but also provides the chance to engage in onsite communication with construction crews. You will participate in a comprehensive 3-day training event covering essential topics such as construction safety, soil compaction and classification, American Concrete Institute (ACI) certification, radiation safety, materials lab training, and nuclear density gauge training. Throughout your experience, you will be paired with a professional engineer who will serve as your mentor, guiding you through procedures and exposing you to ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, ICC, and DOT standards. This is a paid opportunity, and candidates must commit to a full-time schedule for the duration of the 6-month program, starting in mid-May and concluding in December.
