About The Position

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is offering paid summer internships for qualified shareholders and descendants in Anchorage and Nome offices. This internship aims to prepare future leaders by providing hands-on experience in administrative and clerical tasks under the guidance of the Shareholder Training Supervisor. Interns will engage in various activities, receive mentorship, and participate in an exit interview to reflect on their experiences and performance.

Requirements

• Must be a BSNC original shareholder or direct lineal descendant.
• Must be a current college student or high school graduate accepted to college or technical school, or a recent college graduate.
• Minimum GPA of 2.0 required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Must have a positive, friendly attitude and be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Provide office support functions including word processing, filing, copying, and composing business documents.
• Gather and compile data, proofread documents, and balance workload for multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Receive guidance, training, and mentoring from professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.
• Participate in Intern Program activities such as training sessions, group meetings, and team building.
• Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues in planning assignments and resolving operational problems.
• Identify problems and implement or recommend solutions.
• Interact respectfully with supervisors, peers, and the public.
• Learn and adapt to modern technology related to office practices and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of information and work effectively despite interruptions.
• Plan, organize, and prioritize work as directed by supervisor.
• Use a computer/laptop, related software, and standard office equipment.
