About The Position

The USGA is a mission-based golf organization whose purpose is to unify the golf community through handicapping and grassroots programs; to showcase the game's best talent through the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open and 13 other national championships and our museum; to provide unbiased global governance with The R&A through the playing, equipment and Amateur Status rules; and to advance issues important to golf's future, with a focus on driving sustainability, accessibility and inclusion. As a nonprofit association, our work and our team are driven to act for the good of the game. Requirements

• General communications and PR skills, including strong writing and editing skills.
• Strong organizational and decision-making skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently and support the team.
• Up-to-date computer skills and the ability to effectively communicate, including basic design skills.
• Energetic and able to meet ongoing deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred areas of study include: journalism, communications, PR or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with public relations and communications support focused on stakeholder relations, media coordination, and event planning.
• Write, edit, and deploy news briefs and newsletters.
• Fulfill media inquiries and story pitching.
• Monitor media and report on impressions.
• Support USGA functions including community engagement, corporate communications, handicapping/GHIN, Green Section (sustainability), grow-the-game, and leadership/career development programs.
