About The Position

The Substitute Custodian position is a part-time role within the Maintenance Department, available on an as-needed basis. The custodian will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in various district facilities. This role requires flexibility in work hours and the ability to respond to on-call requests.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and physical tasks.
• Willingness to clean up body fluids in accordance with procedures.
• Ability to use custodial equipment and handle chemicals.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Must have a working home telephone or cell phone.
• Ability to take direction and work with minimum supervision.
• Prior experience preferred.
• Must pass a Physical Capacity Exam and WSP/FBI background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed in district facilities.
• Lift and assist in lifting heavy items, including up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Climb and descend ladders up to 50 feet when required.
• Perform repetitive motions such as mopping, sweeping, and cleaning restrooms.
• Bend, kneel, and perform overhead tasks consistently.
• Clean up body fluids following required procedures.
• Use custodial heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools.
• Handle chemicals and paints as required.
• Read and follow operational instructions and procedures.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and community.
