About The Position

The Bus Paraprofessional position involves assisting the bus driver in monitoring the safety and behavior of student passengers during transportation to and from school. This includes loading and unloading students, and may require assistance for students with special needs. The position is part-time, requiring 1.5 to 2 hours of work per day, with an anticipated start date of August 14, 2025.

Requirements

• Must ensure the safety and well-being of children being transported.
• Ability to handle aggressive behaviors.
• Physical ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
• Ability to assist students with special needs.
• Must be physically able to assure safe evacuation in emergencies.
• Possess effective student management skills.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Willingness to attend scheduled training.
• General Ed & Sped Ed Paraprofessionals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver with monitoring the safety and behavior of student passengers.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of children during transportation.
• Assist with loading and unloading passengers.
• Handle physically and/or verbally aggressive behaviors.
• Lift approximately 50 pounds occasionally.
• Assist students with special needs, including those in wheelchairs.
• Ensure safe evacuation of students in emergencies.
• Maintain effective student management skills.
• Report incidents such as discipline or accidents as required.
• Attend all scheduled training as needed.
