Applied Materials’ Research and Development department (Varian R&D) is searching for an intern to join our team starting in 2025! Our R&D department is working on state-of-the-art tools which are the backbone of the semiconductor industry. Through novel engineering we are advancing processes such as deposition, etch, pattern shaping, and material modification.

  • Join the R&D team to work on state-of-the-art tools for the semiconductor industry.
  • Advance processes such as deposition, etch, pattern shaping, and material modification.
  • Preference for students in their final year in a Doctoral degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
  • Experience/knowledge in semiconductor processing or manufacturing is a big plus.
  • Quick learner, hands-on, and not afraid of building and disassembling things.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Well organized with attention to details.
  • Available to work for 6 - 9 months.
