About The Position

The Teacher position at PSJA ISD is responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program. The teacher will create a classroom environment conducive to learning and manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. This role requires collaboration with special education teachers and other staff to modify curricula as needed and to ensure that all students achieve their learning goals. The teacher will also participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills and maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
• One-year student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
