About The Position

The Locksmith position within the General Services unit at Santa Fe Public Schools involves performing maintenance and repairs on facility electrical system components, including the secondary distribution panel. The role requires general maintenance duties and is subject to change based on organizational needs. The position is non-exempt, requiring 8 hours of work per day, with potential emergency call-ins outside of regular hours. The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and requires a current New Mexico Driver's License.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Journeyman Electrician's license.
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's license.

  • Various other trade experience.

Responsibilities

  • Checks and replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other simple elements of electrical systems such as lighting fixtures, tubes, and ballasts.
  • Connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splices wires as required.
  • Inspects and tests electrical lighting and power circuits.
  • Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
  • Measures, cuts, threads, and installs electrical conduit.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit.
  • Assists locksmith with doors and access control.
  • Assists with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Performs carpentry, carpet and flooring repairs, concrete finishing, glazing, grounds and landscaping, masonry, metal work including sheet metal and welding, plastering, plumbing and pipefitting, roofing, and other related mechanical and trades work.
  • Assists with snow and ice removal.
  • Assists journeyman workers as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Purchases supplies as needed to perform work, considering the best value for the district.
  • Coordinates and performs quality control of contractors hired for plumbing maintenance repairs.
  • Prepares job estimates and prioritizes materials, time, and labor for assignments.
  • Records all work performed in the district electronic work order system.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles assigned, ensuring safe use.
  • Uses proper personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with the Maintenance Safety Plan.
  • Assists Maintenance Supervisor in planning projects.
  • Serves as a consultant to the supervisor in areas of expertise.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
