About The Position

The Athletic Coach for E-Sports at Thoreau High School is responsible for instructing athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The coach will also serve as a role model for student athletes, demonstrating behaviors that promote character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment. The position requires organizing and supervising a total sports program, advising and coordinating with assistant coaches, and upgrading knowledge and skills through coaching clinics and observations. The role involves working with students interested in sports, providing necessary practice support, and teaching and enforcing rules and regulations. The coach must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills and strategies.
• Serve as a role model for student athletes.
• Advise, coordinate, and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches.
