About The Position

Amani Public Charter School has been a cornerstone of the Mount Vernon community since 2010, providing 5th-8th grade students with the academic skills and character development needed to succeed in competitive high school programs, college, and beyond. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related subject area.
• NYS Teaching Certification preferred but not required.
• Previous teaching experience with middle-school-aged students preferred.
• Proficiency in Google Suite and Google Classroom.
• Passion for creating equitable and inclusive learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver rigorous, engaging, and differentiated lessons aligned to New York State Standards.
• Use formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
• Foster a structured, positive classroom environment that reflects Amani's core values and high expectations.
• Build relationships with families through consistent and transparent communication.
• Collaborate with colleagues in data-driven planning meetings, weekly professional development, and interdisciplinary team projects.
• Contribute to grade-level and schoolwide activities and events.
