About The Position

Amani Public Charter School has proudly served the Mount Vernon community since 2010, offering 5th-8th grade students the academic skills needed to thrive in competitive high school programs, college, and beyond. As we expand to include elementary school grades, we are excited to continue providing families with exceptional educational opportunities and school choice. Our mission is to cultivate a safe, supportive, and rigorous learning environment where all students can achieve their highest potential. We are seeking passionate and experienced Elementary General Education Teachers, Special Education Teachers, and Teaching Assistants to join our growing team for the 2025-2026 school year. Teachers at Amani are leaders in the classroom, committed to building strong relationships with students and fostering an environment where academic excellence and personal growth go hand in hand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • NYS Teaching Certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged students preferred.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Google Classroom.
  • Commitment to equitable and inclusive educational practices.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging, differentiated lessons using the provided curriculum to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Utilize standards-aligned assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment that upholds Amani's core values and high expectations.
  • Build relationships with families through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Participate in data-driven planning meetings, weekly professional development, and schoolwide events.
  • Contribute to a supportive team culture through collaboration with colleagues and administrators.
  • Develop lesson plans for in-class and virtual instruction.
  • Create and maintain digital classrooms using Google Classroom and other online platforms.
  • Analyze and use assessment data to inform instructional strategies.
  • Monitor and manage student behavior effectively, reinforcing positive behaviors and addressing challenges.
  • Participate in annual two-week staff orientation and training.
