About The Position

The Paraeducator II assists certificated staff in delivering instructional programs by working in specialized areas such as: computer lab, deaf and hard of hearing (DHH), vocational education, case management and/or intervention. This position adapts and implements educational materials to students' specialized needs. The Paraeducator II position monitors students' progress, behavior, and safety. Additionally, this position performs a variety of routine clerical and office tasks supporting teachers and other district staff. Shift Details: Hours are dependent on specific position employee is hired to fill; 183 day calendar. Continuing vs. Non-Continuing: Status varies and is dependent on specific position employee is hired to fill. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Hourly Rate: $32.06 to $35.91 (hourly) (2025-2026 Classified Support Staff Salary Schedule).

Requirements

  • Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university, or completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, or received a passing score on PESB approved assessments.
  • Possession of valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Certification of de-escalation and physical restraint training is required for all employees who work in a self-contained classroom.

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language.
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with students with physical or cognitive disabilities and/or behavior challenges or social/emotional issues.
  • Training with cultural, ethnic and language diversity.
