About The Position

The Assistant Principal at KIPP North Carolina plays a crucial role in fostering a positive school culture and driving academic excellence. This position involves managing teachers, supporting their professional growth, and ensuring that students receive a rigorous and engaging learning experience. The Assistant Principal is responsible for coordinating curricula, coaching teachers, assessing performance, and leading professional development, all while building strong relationships with students, families, and staff.

Requirements

  • A deep commitment to the mission of KIPP NC and belief in the potential of all students.
  • Commitment to anti-racism, equity, and inclusion.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant content area.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in K-12 education.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing and/or coaching K-12 teachers.
  • Active North Carolina teaching license or ability to seek reciprocity from another state.
  • Demonstrated success in coaching and growing K-12 teachers year over year.
  • Pass Criminal Background Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Dean of Students/Instruction or Assistant Principal.
  • Experience in teaching or leading in a high-performing charter school or schools with a high population of students with free and reduced lunch.
  • Demonstrated success in raising achievement levels of traditionally underserved students.
  • Fluency in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Teachers by observing and coaching them weekly, providing rigorous feedback, and supporting classroom management and instructional practices.
  • Plan and execute professional development days in coordination with the Principal and colleagues.
  • Document observations and feedback in Whetstone to track teacher growth and hold performance reviews.
  • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff, embodying the school's values and culture.
  • Reinforce the effective use of a school-wide behavior plan and assist in creating individual behavior plans for students.
  • Use data and research to make sound decisions and develop high-quality, standards-based curricula and instructional content.
  • Continuously monitor student achievement and target interventions based on data analysis.
