About The Position

This posting is not for a specific position with the Edmonds School District. Your application will be placed into an applicant pool for Educational Interpreters for the Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program. When filling positions, the Hiring Administrator will be hiring directly out of this pool job vacancy. Currently, locations for job vacancies are: Brier Elementary, Brier Terrace Middle School, Madrona K-8, Edmonds Heights K-12, Edmonds Woodway High School, Meadowdale High School, and Mountlake Terrace High School. Educational interpreters use sign language and voice interpretation to facilitate communication between Deaf and hard of hearing students and others, including peers, teachers and other staff within the educational environment.

Requirements

• Completion of a recognized interpreter training program and minimum 4.0 score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) and passing score on the written test.
• Interpreting Certificate (NIC) with RID certification and Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) passing score on the written test.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between Deaf and hard of hearing students and peers, teachers, and staff using sign language and voice interpretation.
