About The Position

The Districtwide Teacher position at Dallas Independent School District is responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to follow specific instructions with little or no previous experience.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with challenges in a rapidly changing world.
  • Willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of the district's curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency and Board of Trustee policies.
  • Establish efficient classroom management procedures.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  • Evaluate and record various aspects of students' progress and report to parents as needed.
  • Teach within the course of study for the subject area at the prescribed grade level.
  • Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and provide written lesson plans for substitutes.
  • Provide a variety of planned learning experiences using different media and methods to motivate students.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members to help students resolve issues.
  • Be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school.
  • Share responsibility for interpreting educational programs to the community through activities like open house and PTA meetings.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals when applicable.
  • Participate cooperatively with the principal to develop evaluation systems in line with district guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records of student information and maintain required reports and documents.
