About The Position

The Classroom Teacher RLA (5th Grade) at Bob Hope School is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. This position requires the development and implementation of lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program, as well as the ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles. The teacher will also be responsible for managing student behavior, conducting assessments, and maintaining communication with parents and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing demands.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Maintain records of student attendance and performance.
  • Adapt to changing demands by planning and adjusting teaching instruction for distance learning.
