John Deere is seeking a Design for Diagnostics System Engineer to join our team in Cary, NC. This role is critical in ensuring that our embedded applications are designed and developed to meet the demands of our rapidly growing world. As a part of our commitment to innovation and excellence, you will be involved in creating time-critical embedded applications that are essential for the functionality of our vehicles, including commercial airplanes and off-road vehicles. You will leverage your expertise in C, C++, Matlab, and Simulink to manage the software life cycle effectively, utilizing tools such as SVN, Clearcase, or GIT. In this position, you will also be responsible for requirements and interface management using structured system engineering tools. Your experience in designing and developing UDS diagnostics, including diagnostic trouble codes for electrical systems, will be vital. You will work on creating diagnostics identifiers and routines for multiple off-road vehicle variants, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of reliability and performance. Additionally, you will perform Root Cause Analysis on control unit failures, categorizing these failures to improve our systems. Your role will involve analyzing data sources, including machine parts and their failure history, to design diagnostics that enhance customer experience and reduce repair times. Collaboration with customer support stakeholders will be key to your success in this role. You will also engage in systems engineering activities, utilizing behavior diagrams, stakeholder requirements, and state machines to drive our projects forward. This position allows for 50% telecommuting, but candidates must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite.
