About The Position

The Instructional Assistant/Classroom Aide at Sandpiper Elementary School provides essential support to the instructional program for K-12 students. This role involves working closely with students individually or in groups, following educational and behavioral plans, documenting daily activities, and modeling appropriate behaviors. The position is designed to enhance the learning environment and ensure student safety and success under the supervision of a teacher.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Job-related experience is desired.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certifications are required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with K-12/ELL/special needs students.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate activities for students.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations as requested by the teacher or administrative staff.
• Communicate with teachers and other professionals in a collaborative team model to assist in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives.
• Document students' daily activities for completing daily logs and hourly activities.
• Evaluate situations involving staff, students, and parents for resolution.
• Implement behavioral management strategies and instructional objectives under the supervision of the assigned teacher.
• Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and records to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Model appropriate social behavior and interactions for students.
• Monitor students during assigned periods in various school environments to maintain safety.
• Provide instruction to students under direction to implement IEP or SEI goals.
• Refer incidents to appropriate site personnel for follow-up in accordance with guidelines.
• Remain with students at all times to ensure their safety and de-escalate situations when necessary.
• Respond to various situations to resolve immediate safety and security concerns.
• Support classroom teachers and other personnel to ensure a positive learning environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
