About The Position

The Technology Support Specialist is responsible for performing on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and software applications throughout the district. This role serves as campus-based support in instructional technology and assists in creating an environment conducive to 21st-century learners. The specialist will support professional development opportunities for teachers and staff regarding the effective use of digital resources and activities to enhance student achievement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Ability to utilize instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in a professional manner.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed within different learning environments.
  • Knowledge of computer workstation setup.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
  • Ability to install, maintain, and repair desktops, laptops, and local peripherals.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs.
  • Broad knowledge of common public school software and programs used in the classroom.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity protocols and school safety & security procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and service desktop systems, laptop systems, document cameras, and projectors.
  • Install, configure, and service Operating System software.
  • Install, configure, and service the district's applications software.
  • Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
  • Respond to work order requests in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.
  • Provide excellent customer service with follow-up/follow through communication.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on inventory of campus technology equipment.
  • Assist in satisfying state/national technology initiatives (STAAR/EOC, TELPAS, MAP, etc.).
  • Assist staff and users with logins, passwords, and username issues.
  • Display professional integrity and confidentiality.
  • Provide support to the school technology assistants and teachers.
  • Develop and review instructional technology practices.
  • Assist with state/local online testing.
  • Effectively use and provide support for district-issued devices.
  • Facilitate or conduct technology-focused professional learning for campus staff.
  • Research use of upcoming new technologies in instructional settings.
  • Follow up with teachers and staff who have questions from professional development trainings.
  • Oversee assigned projects and/or program components to ensure compliance.
  • Promote a positive team effort within the department and district.
  • Attend district staff development training, Instructional Technology training, District Technology meetings as well as outside local/state trainings/conferences.
  • Model instructional strategies for teachers on effective use of technology in the classroom.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on inventory of campus technology equipment.
  • Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance for computers and peripherals such as laptops, document cameras, and projectors.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, and carrying.
  • Comply with incident management policies and procedures.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education, and local board policies.
  • Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
