About The Position

The English Teacher for grades 7-8 at Saville Middle School will be responsible for creating and implementing high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned with the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS) and the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF). The role emphasizes maintaining a culturally responsive educational atmosphere that supports effective student learning and aligns with the goals of the Clark County School District. The teacher will report directly to the school site administrator and is expected to adhere to the District's Professional Domains and Standards for Licensed Employees.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates knowledge, skill, and ability to provide instruction in a secondary classroom.
  • Works cooperatively with students, parents/guardians, peers, administration, and community members.
  • Guides the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals.
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with instructional objectives to meet the needs of all students.
  • Participates as an active member with all faculty and staff.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and District policy.
  • Maintains and improves professional competence.
  • Communicates effectively both written and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Administer appropriate District curriculum, aligned with the NVACS.
  • Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive, culturally responsive environment.
  • Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional environment.
  • Develop and implement daily and long-range lesson plans using research-based strategies to meet the needs of all students, including at-risk students, students with IEPs, and English language learners.
  • Align lesson planning, instruction, reflection, and assessment practices to the NEPF.
  • Analyze student data and progress with a balanced assessment system to provide effective and targeted instruction and interventions.
  • Provide a classroom management plan ensuring student safety at all times.
  • Develop a culturally responsive classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions.
  • Collaborate effectively and professionally with administrators, District and clinic staff, parents/guardians, and the community.
  • Integrate the use of technology into the instructional program in accordance with the Nevada K-12 Integrated Technology Standards.
  • Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position, as assigned.
