The position involves developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements while providing written evidence of preparation. Teachers are expected to prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations. Classroom management procedures must be established and maintained, along with standards of pupil behavior. Teachers will evaluate students within the guidelines prescribed by state law or adopted by the school district, continually assess and record students' progress, and report to parents as needed. The role requires teaching within the prescribed course of study for the subject area at the designated grade level, planning lessons that lead to subject area objectives, and preparing written lesson plans for substitutes. A variety of learning experiences using different media and methods should be provided to motivate students and optimize instructional time. Teachers will identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professionals to address health, attitude, and learning issues. They are also expected to be available for counseling with students and parents, share educational program information with the community, coordinate the work of aides and paraprofessionals, and participate in the evaluation system as per district guidelines. Accurate record-keeping of student information and attendance is essential, as is regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
