About The Position

The Varsity Assistant Coach for Girl's Beach Volleyball at Canyon Crest Academy is responsible for supporting the head coach in developing student-athletes' skills, promoting academic success, and fostering a positive team environment. This role emphasizes the importance of character development, adherence to sportsmanship codes, and effective communication with athletes and parents.

Requirements

• Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques, as well as the advanced techniques needed for the sport
• Demonstrates successful ability to teach, enforce, advocate, and model appropriate behavior, character traits, and educational values to student-athletes
• Demonstrates successful ability to follow the National Federation of High Schools Coaches Code of Conduct and the California Interscholastic Federation Coaches Code of Conduct
• Requires sport experience and prefers experience working with youth

Responsibilities

• Understand that academics are a priority
• Be alert to student-athletes' academic performance
• Develop team rules and expectations and communicate these with team and parents
• Provide schedules for practices, tournaments, and games
• Communicate changes in the season schedule in a timely manner
• Be on time and come prepared for all practices and games
• Maintain current CPR/First Aid certificates and TB clearance
• Encourage all student-athletes to do their best
• Apply all school and team rules to all student-athletes equally
• Be professional in all actions and words
• Create a positive environment for the team
• Communicate with individual student-athletes regarding their role on the team
• Clearly communicate all NFHS, CIF, SDUHSD, Conference, and team rules to student-athletes and parents
• Return parent phone calls/emails in a timely manner
• Communicate with parents regarding any injuries to a student-athlete in the absence of an athletic trainer
• Explain vacation/absence policy
• Allow student-athletes time away from practice to make-up tests due to athletic competition or to attend tutoring
• Turn in keys to get paid for off-campus walk-on coaches
• Obtain permission from the Athletic Director to use district facilities out of season
• Maintain CIF HOME and MAX PREP results/stats
• Input schedule into Arbiter, if required by sport assignor
• Adhere to CIF Dead Period of your sport during the summer
