The Capital School District is seeking Elementary School Teachers for the 2025 Summer School program, specifically for the Extended School Year (ESY) and 12 Month Summer School at Booker T. Washington Elementary. The program will run from July 7 to August 6, 2025, with classes held Monday through Thursday. Teachers will be responsible for delivering instruction and support to students, focusing on high engagement strategies and materials. Collaboration with paraprofessionals and specialists is encouraged to provide personalized learning opportunities aligned with student needs, including the implementation and assessment of IEP goals. Professional development will occur on July 1, 2025, prior to the start of the program.

  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Plans and assesses the accomplishments for LRP, ESY, 12 Month, and remedial students in Literacy and Math based on certain groupings of students assigned.
  • Provides SEL, Science, Social Studies, and Special Education services; provides ELL instruction or Immersion supports based on need.
  • Incorporates student collaboration and discussion in teaching methods.
  • Works with the team to plan for experiential community-based activities (i.e., field trips, guest speakers, etc.).
  • Participates in required training for any program materials being utilized.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Follows protocols for attendance, monitoring student progress, and classroom management.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required.
  • Notifies parents of student progress when necessary.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement.
  • Successfully assists with facilitating an educational process that promotes participation, enthusiasm, positive group interactions, and academic success.
  • Other duties as assigned by designated supervisor or principal.
  • Current or eligible to hold Delaware certification in area to be taught or supported.
  • Dual certification (content and special education) preferred, but not required.
  • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Tuberculin Test and physical.
  • Summer Rate $39.76 per hour.
