About The Position

The Process Controller plays a vital role within the Quality Assurance team, acting as the main liaison between production and quality teams. This position is responsible for overseeing forging processes, ensuring adherence to production instructions, and communicating any deviations or errors to the Quality Assurance team. The role also supports internal heat treatment operations and aims to maintain a zero-defect production operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with managers and coworkers.
  • Maintain quality practices and safety standards.
  • Forklift operations and safety certified (or willing to be certified within 60 days).
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical information such as furnace set temperatures and pyrometer instrumentation readings.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a focal point between production and quality to establish process control and contribute to process improvement.
  • Perform process control witness of all production.
  • Alert quality control team if process discrepancy/deviation is noted.
  • Establish a seamless flow of communication between the production floor and quality control.
  • Contribute to meetings aimed at driving process improvement, including bi-monthly hot inspection meetings and spontaneous NCR meetings.
  • Contribute to NADCAP accreditation efforts by overseeing internal heat treatment operations.
  • Operate and maintain the temperature recording system, including chart recorders and digital recorders.
  • Oversee furnace maintenance and instrumentation, ensuring appropriate combustion mix and maintenance of other furnace instrumentation.
  • Facilitate/conduct temperature uniformity surveys and prepare surveys via thermocouple modifications and instrumentation tuning.
  • Interface with Quality Assurance, Production Planning, and Production teams to ensure a zero-defect production operation is maintained.
  • Adhere to personal and facility safety procedures and practices.
  • Communicate with maintenance regarding preventative maintenance efforts for furnaces.
  • Notify the Maintenance Department regarding furnace repairs and other preventative maintenance required.
  • Contribute to the growth of the quality department as a team player.
