Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (two years of experience may substitute for one year of education).
  • 10+ years of business lending experience, including commercial real estate.
  • 5+ years of management experience in a related lending environment.
  • Proven success managing loan participation programs, complex portfolios, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong background in credit analysis, underwriting, and relationship profitability.
  • Executive-level leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial lending regulations (NCUA, SBA, RESPA, TILA, Dodd-Frank).
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical, negotiation, and risk-assessment capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Relationship-builder with strong networking presence in the credit union and financial services community.
  • Ability to balance growth, compliance, and member experience with confidence and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow Mission Fed’s commercial and business lending portfolio, driving loan, deposit, and account growth while maintaining strong pricing spreads and asset quality.
  • Provide executive leadership to a team of commercial lenders, credit leaders, processors, and servicers—fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Oversee credit quality, portfolio performance, and risk management, including delinquency oversight, loss mitigation, and REO disposition.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve underwriting, servicing, and monitoring policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory expectations and market conditions.
  • Serve as a key driver of loan participation strategy, building and managing relationships with other credit unions to buy and sell participations.
  • Lead due diligence, negotiation, structuring, and ongoing monitoring of loan participations in compliance with NCUA regulations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Finance, IT, and senior leadership to ensure operational excellence and regulatory readiness.
  • Represent the Business Lending department with regulators, auditors, vendors, credit union partners, and the Board, delivering clear insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Champion system optimization and integrations across commercial lending platforms to enhance efficiency and scalability.
