About The Position

As a Welder at Tenneco, you will be responsible for applying appropriate welding processes to meet specifications, inspecting and repairing welds as needed to support the production and assembly of exhaust pipe components. This role requires you to perform as an active team member within a cellular operating group, which involves learning, performing, and rotating to other workstations within the cell. You will participate in cell-level BOS meetings and contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the work environment. Your primary duties will include handling materials and tools, setting up complete appropriate weld processes, and inspecting all welds and products to ensure that they meet the required specifications. You will also be expected to perform safety checks and preventative maintenance on welding equipment to maintain good working conditions. The role demands adherence to safety, environmental, quality, productivity, and performance standards as outlined in plant policies and work instructions. Overtime may be required based on production needs. In addition to your welding responsibilities, you will be tasked with obtaining supplies and parts necessary for your job, performing proper setup of welding power supplies and controls, and assisting other employees in the cell group when welding is not required. Maintaining cleanliness in your welding station and surrounding work areas is essential, as is contributing to 5S advancements and the implementation of Lean Principles. You will also have the opportunity to train temporary and new welders, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to perform their tasks effectively.
