About The Position

The Security Officer is part of the Mattel San Bernardino Distribution Center team. This role is crucial in providing a safe and secure workplace for all individuals on the property while protecting Mattel's assets and interests. The Security Officer will perform daily duties that assist warehouse production and ensure compliance with security protocols.

Requirements

• One or more years of experience working as a Security Officer in a corporate, warehouse, law enforcement, or military environment is preferred
• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• CPR certification desired
• Valid Driver's License is required while employed as a Security Officer to drive Mattel fleet vehicles and fulfill the expectation of the job
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business policies, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals including detailed incident reports writing
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, clients, customers, and the general public
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer knowledge - (Word, internet and email)
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Must be willing to rotate shifts based on business need
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the SBDC
• Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions
• Must be able to properly respond in stressful situations and deescalate when needed

Responsibilities

• Enforce Mattel Global Security Department Best Practices and adhere to US Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program recommendations
• Respond to all emergencies and take appropriate action
• Protect the Distribution Center from theft, vandalism, fire and/or unauthorized access
• Perform administrative data entry duties for inbound and outbound tractor trailers or vehicles
• Screen people entering/exiting through the employee entrance/exit areas to ensure authorized entry
• Report security/safety incidents to Shift Supervisors or the Site Supervisor to ensure proper documentation and follow-up
• Drive a Mattel fleet vehicle or golf cart throughout the Mattel distribution center and satellite warehouse location (where applicable) to deter any type of activity that would negatively impact the business
• Provide a high level of customer service to all Mattel employees, vendors, and visitors on property
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections to maintain safety standards
• Learn and understand distribution center policies and procedures
• Understand and perform all duties of the security officer role
