About The Position

Join our team in Urbana, where you’ll play a critical role in keeping operations running efficiently by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems. This position requires strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, manual machining capability, and welding expertise to support hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission, and steam systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience (Skilled Trades, military technical background, etc.).
  • 8+ years of experience as an Industrial Electrician or Mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong manual machining experience, including operation of manual lathes and mills (Bridgeport, Acer preferred).
  • Proven welding expertise (MIG and TIG), especially with stainless steel and structural steel fabrication.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose root causes and perform reliable repairs independently.
  • Proficiency with PLCs and VFD troubleshooting/programming.
  • Experience with laser alignment of motor couplings (offset and angularity).
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, meters, and precision mechanical service tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work in a non-climate-controlled industrial environment.
  • Strong team orientation with the ability to collaborate, mentor others, and support operational performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Install, disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery such as pumps, gearboxes, and mechanical drives.
  • Perform advanced mechanical troubleshooting to diagnose equipment failures and implement effective repairs.
  • Conduct electrical troubleshooting on motors, controls, relays, starters, and 480V 3-phase systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes, pumps, pump seals, and power transmission systems.
  • Perform manual machining using lathes and mills (Bridgeport, Acer preferred) to fabricate or modify parts as needed.
  • Execute welding and fabrication (MIG and TIG), particularly on stainless steel and structural steel.
  • Follow blueprints, manuals, and schematics to execute tasks accurately.
  • Adjust and calibrate instrumentation and mechanical components as required.
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with company procedures, ISO standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Facilities teams to resolve equipment issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Log repair details in CMMS and communicate critical updates to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain tools, work areas, and 5S standards to ensure a safe and organized environment.
  • Request and track parts, materials, and supplies necessary for maintenance activities.
