About The Position

The 1st Shift Fitter position at SteelFab, Inc. in Durant, OK involves the difficult fabrication of steel parts by interpreting blueprints and building to specifications. The role requires the use of various handheld power tools and track-type oxyfuel cutting apparatus, all while working with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying out rises, slopes, and bevels using framing squares, as well as building fixtures necessary for the fabrication process. This position demands a high level of skill in welding, as candidates must pass a tack weld test in 3F and 4F positions with F4 electrode group. Additionally, the ability to interpret structural steel blueprints and shop drawings is essential, along with the capability to camber steel parts as required. The fitter will operate a variety of tools and equipment, including a 90-degree angle grinder, cutting torch, and impact wrench, to ensure the fabrication of trusses and rolled beams is completed to the highest standards. Safety is paramount, and the candidate must operate an overhead pendant-controlled bridge crane safely and efficiently. The role also includes the responsibility of heat straightening using a torch and utilizing a radiograph/track torch as needed. As a qualified welder, the fitter will perform other duties as required by management, contributing to the overall success of the fabrication team.
