About The Position

Helix Aviation Academy is a STEM-focused, public charter school within the Helix Community Schools network, dedicated to empowering students through rigorous academics, real-world learning, and innovative technology integration.

The 1st Grade Teacher will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, fostering a safe and positive classroom environment, and supporting the academic and emotional growth of each student. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a deep commitment to early childhood education.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred)
• Valid state teaching certification for elementary education
• Minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience, preferably in a 1st grade or early elementary classroom
• Strong knowledge of child development and early literacy/numeracy best practices
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
• Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Education or a related field

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver standards-based lessons in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles
• Assess student progress regularly and communicate results with parents and guardians
• Create a warm, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, support staff, and administration
• Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices into daily instruction
• Participate in professional development and school community events
• All staff are expected to sponsor one club or Enrichment during school hours when scheduled.
