Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Completion of 48 semester hours of academic credit that includes 15 semester hours in language arts, reading, writing, mathematics or professional education from a nationally or regionally accredited college/university.
• Passing score on the ParaPro exam (457) or equivalent assessment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a professional working relationship with employees and students.
• Assists with classroom management routines.
• Assists the teacher in working with parents.
• Under the supervision of the teacher, tutors individual students or groups of students.
• Prepares classroom activities under the supervision of the teacher.
• Performs clerical work.
• Assists in preparing class displays and bulletin boards.
• Cares for equipment.
• Assists teacher with classroom activities.
• Assumes responsibility for duties relating to the supervision of playground, cafeteria, bus loading and other school related activities.
• Participates in inservice training programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
