About The Position

1st grade Classroom Teacher at Halifax Elementary School in Halifax, MA and reports directly to the building principal. A successful candidate will: Possess a valid MA license to teach grades 1-6, Elementary (1-6) and SEI Endorsement Collaborate with grade level teachers Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered Use data to inform instruction Communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing Work with students, colleagues and families from diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an inclusive and culturally-proficient manner Support students academically, emotionally, and behaviorally Plan and facilitate lessons Use all available technology and virtual curricula provided by the district to create engaging lessons that are linked with 21st Century skills Manage classroom behavior with positive behavior strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions Administer assessments and utilize available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students including MCAS and ACCESS, as well as district wide formative assessments Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners Utilize available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students Communicate with families on a regular basis using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations Employ a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development This is a fulltime benefits eligible position through the Town of Halifax and salary is commensurate with experience, education and alignment to the Halifax Teachers Association contract.

Requirements
