About The Position

We are seeking a skilled 1st Class Flux Core Welder with experience in FCAW 2G/3G/4G structural welding to work in a shipyard environment. The ideal candidate must be able to pass hands-on FCAW welding tests , perform high-quality, cosmetic welds, and work safely while reading blueprints and work orders. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot welding equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of FCAW 2G/3G/4G structural welding experience
• Ability to pass a hands-on FCAW welding test : 2G and 3G positions
• 3G welded with downhill progression
• 4G welded entirely in the overhead position
• Proficiency in structural welding techniques
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders
• Knowledge of safety standards and best practices related to welding
• Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident

Responsibilities

• Obtain the appropriate tools and set up welding equipment for each job
• Bind together structural metal components that have been pre-assembled and tacked
• Perform cosmetic, sound welds with minimal rework
• Examine and finish own work, including grinding, chipping, or gouging as needed
• Troubleshoot and maintain welding equipment
• Ensure work meets quality standards with minimal defects or rework
