About the position

The successful applicant will be performing work on US Government classified environments, and therefore, must be a U.S. Person (i.e., U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee). This position will perform work that the U.S. government has specified can only be performed by a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil. The successful applicant must have a current US Government TS/SCI or be SCI eligible. Must live within commuting distance and be able to work onsite 3-4 days per week in the Ft. Meade, MD location. Our Consulting Engineers are an integral part of the Customer Experience (CX) team delivering Business Critical Services to our customers! We combine the power of Cisco Analytics and Knowledge with the outstanding technical expertise and consulting (that's you) to drive value, innovation, and adoption in our customer's network. We help them to reduce risk, drive innovation, and improve their network to meet business objectives. We are the customer's trusted advisor and authority, helping the customer understand their network, reduce risks, and take advantage of the technology. We work closely with Cisco Engineering to advocate for innovation for our customer and as a liaison, share what is coming with our customers to help them be the groundbreakers of technology.

Responsibilities

  • Help drive the effort to transform our current and future network architecture for our customers.
  • Build customer documentation including High Level Design (HLD), Low Level Design (LLD), and Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) for the entire network portfolio.
  • Bring creative solutions and be a valuable asset to the team.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI clearance or be SCI eligible.
  • 6 years' of significant experience in Cisco networking including Data Center and Enterprise Networking technologies.
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA).

Nice-to-haves

  • Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP-DC) and/or (CCNP-EN).
  • Experience with Data Center Layer 2 and Layer 3 overlays for example VXLAN, OTV, EVPN.
  • Advanced enterprise networking knowledge and experience with Cisco Routing & Switching Platforms, Data Center Switching Platforms, IP Routing, Internetworking, MPLS, LAN Switching, Multicast, Route Redistribution.
  • Familiarity with features including MPLS, MPLS-TE, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, QoS, Ipv6, IP SLAs, MST, PIM, DMVPN, GETVPN, NetFlow, vPC, Fabric Path, STP experience, ISIS, MBGP and iBGP.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead or guide teams made up of Cisco, Customer and Partner members in the analysis and resolution of sophisticated network problems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to solve technical problems.
  • Ability to multi-task and self-start in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Capacity to see and articulate a vision that inspires change.
