About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Full-time employment paying $26.30 an hour while attending school. With the 1 + 2 ‘Learn While You Earn' program, you can get paid while learning a trade in Industrial Maintenance. Students in the program complete a short Industrial Maintenance training program (9 months); the team member commits to working full-time in the maintenance department at the Dakota City facility for an additional minimum period of two (2) continuous years after completing the 9-month training program. Positions will be responsible for keeping machinery running to maintain continuous production. This includes repairing and maintaining the operating conditions of the machinery and Industrial equipment used in the beef processing industry, troubleshooting problems that occur in the day-to-day operation of the facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Prior mechanical training or experience preferred.
  • Must maintain a 2.0 or better grade average in the program.
  • Must possess strong oral communication and sound decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must be willing and able to perform work that involves gripping and the use of hands and arms above shoulder level.
  • Must be willing and able to stand 10-12 hours a shift on hard floors.
  • Must be willing and able to work in all environments of the processing facility.
  • Must be willing and able to work around the sight and smell of meat products.
  • Must be willing to work C shift.
  • Must be able to work in varying temperatures and conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all equipment and company assets.
  • Keep machinery running to maintain continuous production.
  • Repair and maintain the operating conditions of machinery and industrial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot problems in day-to-day operations.
  • Perform work involving hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, conveyor maintenance, 3-phase wiring, AC/CD control wiring, welding, and pneumatic systems.
  • Set up, adjust, and break down production line machinery.
  • Complete daily documentation as required.
