With Tyson’s 1+2 Industrial Maintenance Training Program, participants start a career as a full-time maintenance employee earning up to $25.85 per hour plus benefits, while attending Industrial Maintenance Training classes at Hawkeye Community College. No prior maintenance experience needed. Just need a desire to succeed!! How it Works Participants attend classes at Hawkeye Community College 4 days a week, 6 hours a day Monday-Thursday; attend one- 4-hour study session on-site at Tyson and work one 12-hour shift in maintenance. Selected candidates are hired as full-time maintenance employees and are eligible for benefits after 90 days. Benefits include medical, dental, life and disability insurance, a company matching 401K retirement and matching stock purchase program, paid vacation after 6 months, paid sick time, tuition reimbursement and more. Selected candidates pay a portion of their tuition via weekly payroll deductions. Candidates work for Tyson for 2 years after graduating then Tyson reimburses the candidate for the amount they paid for their educational costs. Participants earn a certificate in Industrial Maintenance which can be applied towards earning an AA or bachelor’s degree.
