The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Teacher Consultant position at L'Anse Creuse Public Schools is a full-time role designed for an experienced educator with a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder. The consultant will be responsible for providing specialized consultation services to IEP teams, classroom teachers, and building teams to enhance the educational experience of students with autism. This role requires a strong background in special education, particularly in working with students on the autism spectrum, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. The consultant will utilize creative and effective in-service training techniques to support the professional development of staff. This includes training on the Universal Supports Assessment and Planning Tool (USAPT) and assisting teams in implementing effective interventions and strategies tailored to the needs of students with autism. The consultant will also play a crucial role in developing Functional Behavioral Assessments and Positive Behavioral Support Plans, ensuring that each student's unique needs are met in the school setting. In addition to direct consultation, the ASD Teacher Consultant will communicate regularly with administrators, teachers, paraeducators, parents, and students to monitor ongoing needs and make necessary adjustments to support student progress.
