Senior Social Media Manager

No Longer Taking Applications

Job Description

At Teal, we’re setting out to level the playing field for job seekers by building a truly consumer-first platform that equips people with the tools, technology, and resources they need to feel empowered to achieve career growth on their terms. Our goal is to build a community that helps people make confident career decisions from the day they start working to the day they retire—and that’s where you come in as our Senior Social Media Manager!

Are you sick of being told “Make it go Viral”?

Have you been promised creative freedom but only after Legal reviews it for the 6th time?

That’s not this job!

Imagine a Social Media Manager role where nobody runs and hides when they see you coming to make content and you’ll never be asked to make the graphic pop more.

You will be working directly with our  CEO, and Director of Talent who are both comfortable on camera, as well as appearing in fun and educational content yourself  that will grow Teal's member base. Join us as we build the first truly consumer-first platform to help people grow and manage their careers, and be the reason so many new users have heard of us!

  • Own the social media content creation process, partnering with the Growth team on strategy and then running point on leveraging our deep catalogue of long form and written content to create new videos and short form educational content across multiple platforms. Let’s be real, what works on TikTok might get you unfollowed on LinkedIn. We’d prefer for you to get us followed on both!
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions across all social media channels to foster a community and build engagement. Turn haters into fans while fielding the inevitable "How much?" messages
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of social media trends, tools, and best practices. Translation: Know when the man in finance trend is outdated and tell us how embarrassing it would be if we tried to use it now. It’s probably already outdated by the time we posted this! You could have stopped us!
  • Develop strategies to grow and retain our followers across all platforms including maintaining our social media calendar and pulling monthly reports to learn what’s working and change what’s not.

  • Proven experience managing brand social media accounts either directly or in an agency environment with a verifiable track record of successful campaigns and account growth
  • In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Reddit) and their best practices. We don’t expect an expert at everything, but you must be comfortable with and understand the strategies behind each
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can craft a tweet, record a TikTok, and handle a live Q&A with ease. You don’t have to be the star of our content, but you must be comfortable on camera and engaging with an audience as we focus on amplifying employee voices.
  • A strong understanding of SEO and how to optimize titles, tags, captions and images to land the content you worked so hard on at the top of people’s search (Don’t worry we also have a great team to help here).
  • A passion for staying up to date on the latest trends and social media happenings when it comes to brands. We won’t ask about your personal social media growth, and we will forgive you when you inevitably post Teal content on there by mistake as long as you get excited about helping us build a great brand.

  • Experience working in a startup environment or an interest in working for a fast-paced, early-stage startup
  • Experience with SaaS and B2C marketing
  • Experience in graphic design and video editing is a plus (Photoshop, Figma, Canva, Capcut etc.). We don’t expect video and photo editing to be your full time job, but do want you to make the obvious and needed edits to your content.

Skills & Tools You Will Use And Learn

Beyond the social platforms mentioned  above, these are the tools our team uses, while experience in each is not a requirement, we do hope you’ll feel comfortable with some and continue to learn the rest.

  • YouTube tools such as Tube Buddy (or similar)
  • Design tools such as Canva and Figma
  • Video tools such as Adobe Premier, Adobe After Effects, Riverside and Capcut (or similar tools)
  • Airtable
  • Google Analytics
  • Ahrefs
