About The Position

The Zero Assigned Mammography Technologist position at Advocate Health involves performing basic and intermediate screening and diagnostic mammography examinations. The role requires reviewing patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, performing scans to identify breast anatomy, and evaluating mammographic images for accuracy. The technologist will also maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies and document billing codes for procedures performed. This position is part-time and requires flexibility in scheduling as needed.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • No experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and basic radiation safety.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Competently performs basic and intermediate screening and diagnostic mammography examinations.
  • Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders.
  • Obtains breast health history on each patient.
  • Performs scans and identifies breast anatomy, distinguishing normal from abnormal.
  • Adapts imaging techniques to improve diagnostic quality.
  • Evaluates the mammographic image for positioning, technique, artifacts, and compression.
  • Repeats images as necessary and compares requisitions to physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Post-processes images and accurately identifies and labels images.
  • Provides Radiologists with pertinent patient history when reviewing films.
  • Maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
