About The Position

The UAA Learning Commons Writing Center is seeking Student Writing Consultants to assist fellow students in improving their writing skills. This part-time position allows for both remote and in-person work, focusing on one-on-one consultations, workshops, and presentations to enhance student success in academic writing across various disciplines. Consultants will receive training and are expected to maintain a minimum GPA while enrolled in the university.

Requirements

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 with a 3.0 average in Writing/English coursework.
• Successful completion of Writing 211, 212, 213, 214 or an equivalent Writing/English composition course.
• Enrollment in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Prior tutoring experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one writing consultations with students.
• Deliver presentations and lead workshops as needed.
• Participate in group-learning programs.
• Attend regular training sessions to enhance support skills.
