About The Position

Jacobs is seeking a senior-level Wildlife Connectivity Specialist who can provide leadership and support for public and private sector infrastructure projects throughout the US. This is your opportunity to act as a technical support resource specialist in the field of wetland ecology, mitigation, biology, regulatory compliance, CEQA/NEPA and policy compliance and documentation, and federal, state, and local permitting Work will include managing projects, leading teams of specialists, and performing both office and field work.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science or related scientific discipline or technical field.
  • Experience in planning and/or design for projects that include fish and/or wildlife crossings and ecological connectivity.
  • 10+ years of environmental experience emphasizing environmental planning, biological resources, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with a team, including clients, stakeholders, and agencies to identify needs for wildlife crossing and providing technical input on the adequacy of the design of wildlife crossings for specific wildlife species.
  • Experience preparing for and participating in meetings with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of state and federal permitting programs such as the Clean Water Act and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) 404/401 wetland permitting process.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment and interest in mentoring junior staff and team building.
  • Ability to succeed in a consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, planners, and other professionals to assemble regulatory-compliant environmental plans, designs, reports, and permits.
  • Supporting technical report development and fieldwork (e.g., wildlife connectivity assessments, aquatic resources, habitat assessments, species surveys, and vegetation surveys) following state and federal protocols.
  • Assisting with the preparation of environmental documents for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and other state policies.
  • Supporting proposal preparation, client relationships, and business development activities.
  • Preparing scopes of work and estimating level of effort for task completion.
  • Acting as a biology or permitting task lead on projects.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with clients, regulatory agencies, local government officials, employees, and subcontractors.
  • Providing management support and fostering the career growth of junior-level environmental staff.
