Our Protective Services team monitor security needs and assist associates with protective services-related issues. As the VP, Protective Services, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive physical protective services programs for Nationwide Insurance Company. In this position, you'll lead Protective Services operations across all Nationwide owned and leased locations, ensuring the safety of over 20,000 associates, contractors, and visitors. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Typically, 10 or more years of experience in security management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of security technologies, emergency response, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, or similar) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for protective services that aligns with corporate objectives to protect associates, facilities, and assets.
  • Manage day-to-day protective services operations, including physical security measures, access control, surveillance systems, and incident response.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to mitigate risk, identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage programs to ensure the safety of executives, board members, high-profile personnel, and their families.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of workplace safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead safety training programs for associates, ensuring awareness of safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters, workplace violence, and threats to facilities.
  • Coordinate drills and training exercises to ensure preparedness among staff and security officers.
  • Investigate workplace accidents or near misses to identify causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations, relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing protective services team across all locations.
  • Partner with local government, business leaders, law enforcement and emergency response agencies to build relationships and enhance protective services measures.
