About The Position

The Business Development and Life Sciences Leader at Caris Life Sciences will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new partnership opportunities within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. This role is crucial for expanding Caris's oncology business by leveraging its advanced molecular science and bioinformatics capabilities. The leader will collaborate with BBD leadership to shape the BioPharma strategy, ensuring Caris is recognized as a premier partner in molecular and precision medicine. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in oncology and business development, with a proven ability to cultivate relationships within the BioPharma industry to drive business value.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12+ years of professional experience, with at least 8 years in Biopharma business development roles.
  • Proven business development track record with experience leading complex partnerships.
  • Extensive knowledge of research and development processes within pharma, particularly in oncology.
  • Deep understanding of molecular biology and drug discovery and development processes.
  • Experience in leading and participating in BD partnering events and oncology conferences.

  • MBA and/or MD or PhD preferred.
  • Exceptional business and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management orientation to assess client requirements and drive internal efforts.
  • Ability to prepare clear communication materials for internal and external activities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new partnering opportunities with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
  • Lead promising opportunities through contract and deal execution.
  • Collaborate with internal scientific and business leadership to define and package products and services for the life sciences industry.
  • Assess the competitive landscape and position capabilities for deal terms.
  • Build and prioritize a book of work, transferring executed deals to the alliance management team.
  • Drive partner outreach through meetings and events, preparing materials for external interactions.
  • Leverage cross-functional capabilities to refine and deliver executed contracts.
