About the position

The Visiting Services Technician, Administrative Specialist 1 position is a job rotation anticipated to last 12 months, though it may be extended or decreased due to business need. This rotation is available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision with their current manager's approval. In this role, you will provide administrative support to the Programs and Services team with a focus on Visiting Services, ensuring excellent customer service to stakeholders throughout the state. Responsibilities include processing applications, monitoring progress, collecting and interpreting data, and ensuring compliance with all rules and policies. This position directly supports the mission of the department by increasing access to visiting and connecting adults in custody with their community and support structures. The ideal candidate will be analytical with strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Programs and Services team with a focus on Visiting Services.
  • Process applications and monitor progress.
  • Collect and interpret data to ensure compliance with rules and policies.
  • Explain visiting rules and processes to the community.
  • Support the mission of the department by increasing access to visiting.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data.
  • An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
